Board tasks finance committee with five‑year fiscal planning; unanimous approval of consent agenda

Under item 9.03 the Board discussed charging its finance committee to develop a long‑range (five‑year) fiscal plan and to take a fresh look at health insurance, using the district’s Forecast5/Frontline tool to analyze data and produce recommendations.

A committee member said the tool can speed comparative analysis and help the district project where budgets land, while acknowledging the tool is only as useful as the underlying data. “There is a comparative analytics inside the tool the district has now…as part of this five‑year long‑term planning, that’ll help us to just locate ourselves internally and get a little insight,” the Committee member said.

Members agreed the committee should aim to produce concrete recommendations (for example, whether to remain with current providers or pursue other plan options) rather than only running comparative reports. One board member urged the finance committee to return a recommendation by the end of the year on key items such as health insurance plan choice.

Separately, the board approved the consent agenda by voice vote after a motion moved by Lorraine and seconded by Barbara; the Chair recorded the vote as 7–0 in favor. Earlier in the meeting the board also approved a motion to return to public session (moved by John, seconded by Marjorie) by a 7–0 voice vote. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn (moved by Bridal, seconded by Lorraine), which passed 7–0.

No public commenters were signed up for this meeting; the board closed public comment. The finance committee will bring a finalized charge and reporting cadence back to the board at the next meeting for review.
