Mrs. Morrison delivered the curriculum update outlining procedures for incoming pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students, including screening and placement timelines. She said the district will relocate one pre-K classroom per building to South Shore Children's Center for the upcoming year because of building capacity limits and will automatically place students who have a sibling attending their home school, space permitting. "We anticipate notifying all parents and guardians of the pre-k placements in the week of June 3 or sooner," Mrs. Morrison said.
She said the district will hold sibling lotteries where needed (live-streamed May 22) and then hold placement lotteries for remaining seats; families not assigned to a home building will attend South Shore Children's Center. Mrs. Morrison also listed Regents testing dates in June (algebra I starting June 4, other regents through June 25) and said AP and IB testing are underway at the high school.
The board accepted the update and noted that additional family communications and summer information will be shared on the district website. No votes were required on these operational placement procedures.
