Board committee outlines summer construction, security lobby and pool planning

Mr. McCann, reporting for the Building and Grounds Committee, said summer construction work will ramp up in June and described several projects the committee prioritized. He reported that bids were received for a roof replacement and that Messara (slated to become a BOCES site) will vacate space previously used for district storage, prompting alternative storage planning. "They're looking to be in there starting classes on September the first," he said about the Messara/BOCES project; the board asked for a tour of the facility.

McCann described a district office security lobby project as the remaining double-security upgrade and said it will take most of the summer and part of the fall to complete. He also noted a masonry crack at the high school that engineers are reviewing and provided an update on pool planning: architects will draw plans for state approval and subsequent bidding, with construction projected to start the year after approvals are complete.

Board members framed these items as standard capital planning and thanked staff for progress and oversight. No vote was required at this time; the committee will bring bids and contract recommendations back to the board when procurement is needed.
