Board approves minutes, personnel items, contracts, bids, donations and a student settlement

The Board of Education moved through a series of business items and carried motions on multiple items during the meeting. The board approved the minutes of the April 16, 2024 regular meeting and approved a consent agenda of personnel items. Notably, the board recognized and accepted the retirement of district clerk Mary Hock after more than 21 years of service.

On finance and procurement items the board approved budget transfers in the general and capital funds and accepted donations listed on the agenda, including an $8,000 Jean Haas Foundation scholarship gift to the technology and engineering department and a purple metal bench valued at $2,500 from the PSI Love You Day Foundation for installation at the high school. The board approved health-service contracts for Amity Union Free School District for the 2023–24 school year and approved listed bids; it also adopted resolutions to reject bid number 2405 and bid number 2412 as presented.

The board approved several agreements and contracts by motion, including broker service and enrollment agreements with Brown & Brown of Garden City, a multi-year BOCES fiber WAN services agreement (project W1-FWANDASH050124-2024-2029), and a Y Lattice lease agreement (later amended to correct the effective dates). The board also approved a stipulation of settlement and release related to a student and accepted recommendations of the Special Education Committee to authorize services for listed students.
