Moore highlights Great Basin Saline Lakes Act and Fruit Heights land bill as local priorities

During the tele‑townhall several callers raised environmental concerns about the Great Salt Lake and regional air quality. Moore said he has introduced and supported local legislation to address saline lakes and to improve access for recreation.

Moore said the Great Basin Saline Lakes Act directs the U.S. Geological Survey to monitor saline lakes and develop options for action, and that the Fruit Heights Land Conveyance Act (being considered in the House Natural Resources Committee) would streamline federal interactions to allow trail maintenance and extensions of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. He noted that a local city manager testified in committee in support of the land conveyance bill.

Moore described the Great Salt Lake as a priority for state and federal engagement and thanked local leaders for advocacy. He stressed that solutions require data and sustained attention: "...that engages the US Geological Survey to monitor and create solutions and options for, sort of, you know, action to be taken," he said.

What happens next: Moore said the bills are moving through committee processes and that further local outreach and data collection will guide next steps.
