Superintendent (Speaker 4) told the Secaucus Board of Education that Gov. Murphy recently visited Millridge and Clarendon schools and that the district was awarded preschool expansion aid that will allow the district to offer full‑day prekindergarten to more families. Families are being asked to complete pre‑registration to enter the district lottery for seats.
The superintendent said the district has formed a redistricting committee and scheduled its first meeting for April 11; updates will be provided at future board meetings as the committee completes its work. She emphasized that the district is awaiting additional guidance from the New Jersey Department of Education about program logistics.
In partnership with Ramapo College the district received a Noy STEM grant of “slightly over $1,000,000,” the superintendent said. She said the grant is intended to expand student opportunities in STEM fields and help the district recruit qualified STEM teachers. The board was told that grant details and next steps will be communicated to families as the district receives further information.
The superintendent also acknowledged staff and student accomplishments across the district and noted principals and staff selected for regional leadership roles. She said more information about implementation and timelines will be shared as the district receives guidance from the state and grant administrators.
The board did not take formal votes on these items during the report; the superintendent asked families to watch district communications for enrollment and grant‑related announcements.
