The Secaucus Board of Education accepted a slate of committee recommendations from governance, education, and finance committees and acknowledged progress on the district budget and operations.
Under governance and personnel items, trustees approved appointments for professional-development activities, summer enrichment and fall/winter coaching postings, and ARP-supported summer positions. The education committee outlined summer programming: a Summer ELA Academy running June 24–July 18 with 90-minute live sessions; Summer Math Academy sessions for middle school (June 24–July 1, 9 a.m.–noon) and high school (June 24–July 23, 9 a.m.–noon); discussion of extended-school-year services and full-day pre-K registration to be first-come, first-served.
The finance and operations report noted completion and testing of a new school generator and described planning for summer capital projects amid a national materials shortage. Finance reported that the county approved the district’s budget and that the board’s public hearing on the budget is scheduled for May 1; after board approval the budget will be submitted to the state for final approval. The finance committee also recommended issuing a competitive bid for district paraprofessional services and participating in a cooperative purchasing arrangement to obtain a cybersecurity assessment.
Trustees moved and approved the listed resolutions (R1.02–R1.11, R3.01, R5.01–R5.10 as noted in the packet). One trustee recused herself from payment to Reed Academy on the check register and recorded that recusal during the roll call.
These approvals move routine operational and program items forward; specific program details (locations, enrollment processes and final budgets) will be posted in subsequent board materials and public notices.
