At the Jan. 23 meeting, Board President Lachlan updated trustees on the district’s superintendent search, saying the committee reviewed 29 applications and narrowed the list to nine candidates who will be invited for first-round interviews next week.
Lachlan said the committee will hold second- and final-round interviews in subsequent weeks to determine which candidate(s) to recommend to the full board. He told trustees the community had already provided input via surveys that informed the committee’s work and that confidentiality limits public disclosure of candidate identities during the process.
Several trustees asked whether the community would have another opportunity to provide input after interviews. Lachlan said the primary community input had been captured via the earlier surveys but offered to double-check the process with the search consultant referenced in the meeting.
The board also noted it would reconvene the superintendent-search committee in a second executive session to discuss candidate interviews; the meeting transcript shows that executive session later occurred for litigation and personnel matters before the board returned and completed votes.
What’s next: First-round interviews are scheduled next week, with further rounds to follow; the committee will vet finalists before bringing a recommendation to the full board.
