District anti‑bullying report shows Woodridge met state requirements, board told

Keith Lisa, the district’s anti‑bullying specialist, told the Woodridge Board of Education that the district’s previously shared, unofficial Anti‑Bullying Bill of Rights (ABR) self‑assessment scores have been reviewed and approved by the New Jersey Department of Education and released as an official report card.

"Having met or exceeded all requirements for each area, the scores for each school were as follows: Doyle School 67, the Intermediate School 61, the Junior‑Senior High School 61, the district score of 63," Lisa said, adding that the district "has officially met all requirements of the Anti‑Bullying Bill of Rights" for the 2022–23 school year.

The ABR self‑assessment uses eight core elements (programs/approaches; board‑approved policy training; staff instruction/training; curriculum instruction on HIB and related skills; HIB personnel; school‑level HIB reporting procedures; HIB investigations; and HIB reporting). Each element contains requirements scored on a 0–3 scale, producing a maximum possible school score of 78.

Board members did not debate the ABR numbers at length during the meeting. The report was presented as an official release that is available on the district and school websites, according to Lisa.

What happens next: the board will include the official ABR report card in district records and materials as required by state rules; no additional board action on the ABR report was recorded at the meeting.
