The Woodridge Board of Education recognized Students of the Month across grade levels and approved a multi‑item consent agenda during its regular public session.
Presentations: Administrators introduced students selected by teachers as April Students of the Month at Doyle School (including Joseph Viviano, Jackson Caldario, Joseph Guglielmotti and Swara Reedy Paparidi), the intermediate school (Catalia Hernandez, Saleema/Salima Amron, Kai Gianjarusso) and the junior‑senior high school (Leo Argenti, Hayden Tisselas, Randy Isaguar, Skyler Partridge, Eileen Liz and senior Rocca/Raka Mendoza). The students were described for attributes such as honesty, leadership and classroom participation; the senior Mendoza was present and praised for leadership and peer support.
Superintendent’s report: Superintendent Tony summarized end‑of‑year events and achievements: overnight trips (Frost Valley; Washington, D.C. for 8th grade), a High School Commitment Day supported by the PTA, ongoing NJSLA testing and prep activities, performing arts and festival participation, county recognition for a student poster contest, pre‑K sensory gym visits, a 2nd‑grade Turtleback Zoo field trip, and athletic accomplishments including the varsity baseball team clinching a divisional title and upcoming state tournament matches. Tony noted that some upperclassmen received training through the Bergen County Elections Office to serve as paid poll workers in the upcoming primary and in November.
Board business and votes: The board considered committee reports and moved a multi‑item consent package covering curriculum & instruction (field trips and related approvals), personnel actions (reappointments, chaperones, bus driver reappointment), buildings and grounds (facility requests), finance (bills list and accepting donations), revisions to the 2024–25 district calendar, acceptance of the NJDOE ABR school/district grade report for 2022–23, and the revised Safe Return & Continuity of Service plan. Trustee Fallon moved the motion and Trustee Biamonte seconded. A roll call vote recorded unanimous support: Fallon, Garvin, Milano, Biamonte, and Nieves voting yes.
Public comment: No written or in‑auditorium submissions were received for the resolutions hearing; during the general public comment period a resident offered brief remarks thanking the district for continuing field trips and reflecting on family experiences chaperoning over several years.
Adjournment: A motion to adjourn was made and approved by voice vote; the chair closed the public session.
What this means: The meeting’s substantive outcomes were recognitions and the unanimous approval of a routine consent package that included personnel, calendar and finance items; the ABR report was delivered as an informational item (see separate article).
