The Bath Central School District Board of Education voted unanimously to return four snow days to the district calendar and to shift the school year’s final day forward by one day.
Superintendent (speaking as the district’s superintendent) told the board the district would restore four days, converting April 8 — previously a half day for the solar eclipse — into a full day and adding April 19 (the Friday before April break), May 24 (the Friday of Memorial Day weekend) and Wednesday, June 26, as give-back days. Superintendent: "we have 4 snow days to give back," and outlined a contingency plan that if additional closures occur the district would take back the June 26 date first, then May 24, and so on.
The board approved the superintendent’s recommendation by motion (moved by Mr. Wohrey and seconded by Mr. Lafferty) with a recorded vote of 7–0. Board members noted the district has already accommodated scheduling needs tied to state exams and scoring that occur in late June.
The action changes the dates families and staff should expect for the end of the school year and directs district staff to update published calendars and communications to families. The superintendent said the district would notify the public once the revised calendar is posted and reiterated that the give-back plan includes the contingency that any additional emergency closures would be handled in the order described.
The board moved on to other agenda items following the calendar vote.
