The Bath Central School District Board of Education voted to send the notice for the upcoming budget hearing and clarified scheduling for the district’s strategic planning session and reorganizational meeting.
Clerk recorded the motion to publish the budget hearing notice, which the board approved 7–0 following brief discussion about the hearing time (members discussed shifting the posted time from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.). The superintendent presented the proposed budget as largely set on the expense side, listing bus purchases, capital outlay and board-of-election costs as included items.
The board also confirmed the June strategic planning session will be held on June 5 beginning at 3:30 p.m. with facilitator Corey Green, attached to the regularly scheduled meeting that evening. For the reorganizational meeting, board members agreed to move the July reorganizational meeting off July 3 because of the holiday and to hold it on Tuesday, July 2, at 5:30 p.m.
The superintendent briefed the board on professional conferences and district costs: the NISPA conference is Oct. 20–22 in New York City, and district staff found a way to make MISBA/MISCUS and rural school costs BOCES-eligible for hotel and meals. The superintendent also warned that Steuben County’s newly purchased voting machines — not grant-funded — will raise rental fees to $1,600 unless BOCES can hold the contract so the district could claim aidability.
The board’s actions leave the district office to finalize and publish the hearing notice and for staff to pursue options with BOCES about the voting-machine contract.
