The Depew Union Free School District board approved a series of routine motions during Monday’s meeting, including donations, facility‑use waivers and an administrative appointment.
By voice vote the board accepted a donation of 7,000 granola bars from Frontline Impact to be used for students and staff across the district. The board also accepted a $500 donation to Depew Middle School from Patrick and Barbara Law to support the Freedom in America contest.
The board approved requests to grant not‑for‑profit status and to waive fees (custodial and audio‑visual fees excluded) for the Town of Lancaster Youth Bureau and the Greater Niagara Frontier Council, Boy Scouts of America, which specified dates and use of auditorium, gym and classrooms for leader training. The Victor Swim Club was approved for not‑for‑profit status and custodial fee waiver for a feeder program using the district pool with early morning and evening practice slots.
The board appointed Todd Bush as pro tem clerk by motion and voice vote.
During added business the board, on the superintendent’s recommendation, appointed Elizabeth Stearns as the district’s new school business administrator; the motion was approved by voice vote and the board welcomed Stearns to the district.
Several motions to enter executive session (student matters; employment history of individuals) were made and carried earlier in the meeting; no public actions were taken during those executive sessions.
