The Colstrip Public Schools Board voted to transfer $104,672.84 from the interlocal fund to the district’s health insurance fund to bolster reserves. The business officer explained the health fund had been drawn down and the transfer would bring the fund to roughly $50,000.
During a broader budget presentation the business officer reviewed fund types, taxable valuation trends, sources of non‑levy revenue and deferred maintenance needs (track and football field, playground, security cameras and HVAC items for the adult‑education locker room). Trustees also discussed permissive levies and noted the district’s practice of using non‑levy revenue first before levying the voted mills to taxpayers.
After presentation of the trustee financial summary and budget reports the board moved to adopt the final elementary and high‑school budgets for 2024‑25. Trustees approved the budgets and the transfer on motions recorded in the packet.
Next steps: administrators will continue work on deferred‑maintenance priorities and provide follow‑up on permissive levy options and any projects brought forward for voter consideration.
