Board approves personnel motions and moves superintendent�s effective date earlier

The Hoover Township Board of Education approved multiple personnel motions Monday evening and amended the superintendents start date. After a brief closed session, the board removed personnel motion number 2 from the table and approved it by roll call, changing the effective date for Dr. Angelo from 08/09/2024 to 07/31/2024.

Board leadership said the motion had been tabled earlier to permit confidential discussion. The chair introduced the motion and a roll-call vote was held; the meeting transcript records the following responses as 'Yes': Barnett; Brandon; Hermine (Hermy); Johnson; McBride; Mills; Newick; and Terry. The board stated no further public action was required on the other items discussed in the subsequent executive session.

Board members also voted earlier in the meeting to adopt finance motions 1through 10 and program motions 1 and 2 by voice vote. The chair explained that personnel matters that required confidentiality would be handled in executive session under the Open Public Meetings Act.

The board then entered a second executive session to discuss a Bloomington Township
nd Mountain Lakes tuition agreement and the superintendent search; the board said it would take no public action on those two items when it reconvened. The meeting adjourned at about 10:45 p.m.

Next steps: the board did not announce further public hearings or votes on the tuition agreement or search during open session.
