East Rutherford board approves routine motions, facility uses; accepts personnel resignations

The East Rutherford Board of Education approved a slate of routine superintendent and committee recommendations and addendum items at its meeting.

On the superintendent's recommendation the board approved resolutions S1 through S4 (fire and emergency-drill report, enrollment report, harassment/intimidation/bullying monthly report and school-bus evacuation drill report) and approved committee motions C1 through C4 covering nursing service plans, the Week of Respect schedule and related student activities. The personnel committee motions (P1'P4) were approved, including acceptance of resignations and retirements listed on the agenda.

In addendum business the board approved district use of facilities applications (PF1A/PF2A), including a police-department request to use Lincoln School on dates when schools are closed for the NJEA convention and dances requested at Foust School on Oct. 25 and other dates; the board also approved the bills list (F1A) for September 2024 and approved posting for the vacancy of an unexpired Board of Education member seat.

The transcript records acceptance of staff departures and one retirement; the meeting transcript contains inconsistent spellings for the same administrative assistant and for a retiree (multiple forms of the names appear in different segments). During roll call one board member recused themselves from PF1A/PF1A. The board then recessed for a closed executive session to discuss legal, personnel, negotiation and student matters and later reconvened before adjourning.
