The Huron Valley Schools Board of Education on March 18 approved a set of unfinished-business items including High School Furnishings Bid Pack 9 Phase 2 and Lakeland High School remediation, and unanimously adopted a Board of Education governance-standards resolution.
Board president called for the motion to approve the high-school furnishings package; Member Dodd moved and Member Connor seconded the motion. After no discussion the board voted by roll call and the motion passed. The board then moved to Lakeland High School remediation (exhibit C); Member Pastana made the motion, Member Dimock seconded, and the board approved the remediation contract by roll call.
During this period the secretary read a resolution adopting the board’s governance standards, which the board discussed briefly and then voted to adopt. Members who spoke in favor described the measure as a framework to guide conduct and board development.
The approvals were presented as continuations of work tied to the district’s 2019 bond program and ongoing capital projects. Officials said these items were previously reviewed in committee and brought forward for final action.
What’s next: Administrators said items that were presented as first reads and finance items — including a computer refresh, bus purchases, pool scoreboards, a timekeeping system, powerhouse repairs and an ASD playground purchase — will return for action at the board’s April 15 meeting.
