Several new and returning members of the Taylor School District Board of Education were sworn in and the board elected its officers during a regular meeting.
At the start of the meeting, multiple trustees took the ceremonial oath of office. Kathy Fields recited the oath as a member of the Taylor School District Board of Education and was congratulated by colleagues. Justin Modarski and Linda Moore each recited the oath in turn, and Stephanie Shufeld was sworn in later in the ceremony.
Following the oath, the board moved to elect officers. After nominations for board president, the board voted to elect Linda Moore as president; the nomination carried unanimously, 7–0. The board then elected Cory Morris as vice president by a 5–2 vote; two trustees voted no. Stephanie Shufeld was elected secretary in a unanimous vote, and Kathy Fields was elected treasurer unanimously.
Trustees used the president’s election and subsequent officer votes to confirm leadership roles for the coming term, after which the board turned to routine business. Several trustees welcomed the new members and officers and emphasized the need for clear, timely distribution of background materials so trustees and the public have time to review agenda items before votes.
The board also announced two upcoming community input sessions for the district’s five‑year planning process on Jan. 23 and Feb. 13, and highlighted a Taylor Career Center fundraising event on Feb. 14.
The meeting proceeded to administrative business and was adjourned at 6:39 p.m.
