Darryl presented the Assumption Parish sales-and-use tax report to the school board, saying total collections for April 2024 were $1,690,917, an increase of $309,093 from the prior year — roughly a 22% rise. He told the board the school board received $840,674 for the month, an increase of $153,711 (about 22%). Darryl also provided transaction counts and filing breakdowns (total returns processed 2,613; online filers 2,371) and said audit revenues for April were zero compared with April 2023.
Darryl said he and staff (Miss Ashford) are refining calculations and plan to discuss the numbers further at the finance committee meeting scheduled for June 5. "Sales tax as you all know has definitely increased this year," he said. (Darryl.)
