At the meeting the Assumption Parish School Board approved a bundle of routine actions covering contracts, procurement and construction items.
The board approved a contract with Data of Information LLC for an annual data package and an on-site workshop for the 2024–25 school year. It also authorized advertising for quotes for paper goods, cleaning supplies and chemicals for fiscal 07/01/2024–06/30/2025 and awarded bids for food, milk, paper goods and cleaning supplies for that period.
On facilities, the board approved a certificate of substantial completion for HVAC renovations at Assumption High School and approved change order No. 2 for renovation of Building A at Assumption High School. The superintendent explained crews found damaged interior hallway walls behind removed lockers that were not visible until demolition, necessitating additional repairs. "The walls were not complete behind the lockers...that's where the damage is at," the superintendent said.
Separately, the board authorized the superintendent to solicit proposals for a salary schedule study and to solicit quotes for bus lease services, and approved a one-time retention and recruitment stipend for the 2024–25 school year.
