Superintendent Miklitsch of Knox Community School Corp said the district pushed back the beginning of the school year by one day and that it will use Sept. 17 as a contingency make-up day. "We pushed back to beginning of school 1 day," Miklitsch said, and asked families to "please mark your calendars."
Miklitsch also said the district will hold a virtual instruction practice day on Sept. 11: students will stay home and connect to live lessons while teachers remain in the buildings. He framed the day as a preparedness exercise to ensure remote instruction works if future weather forces closures.
He reminded families the first quarter ends Sept. 27 and outlined parent-teacher conferences set for Oct. 10 from about 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Oct. 11 roughly 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. He said computers will be available at conferences to help families complete required forms.
Miklitsch closed with calendar logistics and encouraged families to call the central office with any questions.
