The Schiller Park School District 81 Board of Education announced at its April 17, 2024 regular meeting that the district superintendent has filed for retirement effective at the end of the 2024–25 school year.
Board leadership said an internal posting for the superintendent position opened April 5 and will remain open through April 26. The board said a selection committee will review applications and conduct interviews with the stated goal of naming a superintendent at the May 15 board meeting to allow time for transition and staff notification.
The board described the hiring process as internal at this stage; no candidate names, job postings text, or external search firms were identified in the meeting. The chair framed the timeline as a way to provide staff and the community time to adjust to leadership change.
Board members did not raise substantive questions about the posting timeline during the meeting, and there was no public comment on the matter. The board adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
Next steps: the internal posting remains open through April 26 and the board expects to convene a committee to interview candidates and report back at the May 15 meeting.
