A district staff member demonstrated the district’s new online registration process using PowerSchool’s Enrollment Express and said the district expects to begin rollout around May 1. The system will let parents use phones to complete new‑student and returning‑student forms, upload a photo of a birth certificate to sync to PowerSchool, receive notifications when a school approves a registration, and see prepopulated returning‑student information. Staff said the new approach should reduce manual data entry by secretaries and simplify the process for families.
Staff lead Sharon Goldsby was named as overseeing the work with secretaries and schools; staff said they will produce short how‑to videos and handouts to help families and will train internal staff ahead of public notification. The presenter said some forms that currently required building-level translation (for military‑connected fields, for example) can now be routed directly into the correct PowerSchool fields, reducing manual translation.
Trustee questions: Board members asked whether older students could complete some forms (athletic signings, etc.) themselves; staff said the system can be customized so students sign specific forms while parents retain control of other records. The presenter reiterated that policies on signatures (for minors vs. adults) will continue to govern who can complete or sign particular items.
Next steps: Staff will complete secretary training this week, finalize materials and begin public communication ahead of a May 1 rollout.
