Derek Badeca, a presenter to the McCreary County Board of Education, told the board the McCreary County Middle School renovation is roughly 70% complete and remains on schedule.
"Roughly speaking, that project is about 70% complete and it's on on reasonable track," Badeca said, reporting that the basement addition and cafeteria deck have been poured, soffit work over the cafeteria has been removed, a new hall by the library is installed, kitchen tile is nearly complete and electrical work is about 90% finished.
Badeca also updated the board on the McCreary Central High School LAVIP project and said that work there is running ahead of expectations. He reported that the basement ceiling grid and the first coat of paint are complete, corridor door frames are installed and sprinkler modifications and roofing are scheduled to begin next week. He added that the slab for the addition had been poured and an outside sewage lift station had been installed, inspected and approved.
Board members asked timing questions about finishing exterior site work; Badeca said site loop/driveway work would be among the last items to finish. No formal action or vote was required on the capital projects during the update.
The updates were presented as part of the board’s regular facilities and capital projects briefing; board members did not raise objections and thanked the presenter for the report. The district did not provide a final completion date during the presentation.
