Youth Legislature reports 81.65% turnout and posts officer results

Maddie Zemke, the program’s director of elections, announced the YMCA Youth Legislature’s election results and said the turnout for this year’s elections was 81.65%.

Zemke said two initiatives received majority support and will be submitted to the program committee for consideration as formal proposals. She then read the results for major officer positions: Postmaster General Faith Garcia; Chief Lobbyist Executive Kenneth Coe; Editor in Chief Virgil Johnson; Secretary of State (named in results) Shruti Lingam; Attorney General Hannah Uman; Speaker of the House Anika Pabrocco; President Pro Tem Shoham Promenique; Lieutenant Governor Smaran Malakapali; and Governor (as reported in results) Hugh Carter.

The elections announcement concluded with housekeeping and a motion to adjourn. The Moderator called for a second, the body voted in favor, and the motion to adjourn passed, concluding the session’s formal business.
