The Allegheny-Clarion Valley School Board on April 8 reviewed personnel items that will appear on the upcoming voting meeting agenda, including coaching hires, substitute advertising and announced retirements.
The personnel slate includes three motions to hire assistant softball coaches and to proceed with interviews for a head coach; the chair said names and salaries will be presented at the April voting meeting. The board also will advertise for a long-term substitute to replace a primary-level elementary special-education teacher going on maternity leave in the 2024–25 school year. An additional FMLA leave request from an employee was also noted.
The workshop announced two retirements: Anita Orton, a fifth-grade teacher who has served the district since 1991, and Tammy Thompson, who has been with the district since 1999 and plans to retire Jan. 3, 2025. The Chair described both as long-serving employees who will be missed.
These personnel actions were presented for the formal consent and personnel motions expected at the next voting meeting; no hires or formal approvals occurred at the workshop.
