Panel reports SSB 5901 out of committee 16-0 to aid on-base school construction assistance

The Capital Budget Committee in executive session moved and approved a recommendation to report Substitute Senate Bill 5901 out of committee with a due-pass recommendation.

Vice Chair Parsley moved that SSB 5901 be reported with a due-pass recommendation; the motion was seconded (second not named on the record). A committee member said the bill makes adjustments similar to a previously considered measure and urged a yes vote, noting it provides support and stability for on-base schools. "I think it does make some good adjustments for our on-base schools... I would urge a yes vote," the member said. Representative Levitt added: "Our military children need quality schools ... this bill addresses the real gap and challenge that two school districts in particular who are near bases have and urging a yes vote."
