The Grafton School District Board of Education completed its organizational work at the April 22 meeting, electing officers and approving the district’s 2024–25 meeting calendar and committee appointments.
Board members nominated and voted by voice for the four officer positions. Speaker S5 nominated Steve Nada for board president, a nomination seconded and closed by the board; Nada accepted and the board approved him as president. The board then nominated and approved Carrie Walz as vice president, Jerry Rossi as board clerk and Mark Kaylor as treasurer.
The board also confirmed appointments to external groups: Sean will serve as the district’s CESA 1 representative, Carrie was designated the WASB delegate, and Robert agreed to continue in his existing delegate role. Administration presented a proposed meeting schedule for next school year — regular board meetings on the fourth Monday and committee meetings on the second Monday, with exceptions moving the December meeting to Dec. 16, the March meeting to March 17 and the May meeting to May 19 — and the board approved the calendar by voice vote.
Other routine business approved under the consent agenda included the March 18 meeting minutes and the March 2024 statement of receipts and expenditures. The board also discussed committee membership and left existing assignments unchanged for now, inviting board members to propose changes by email before the next meeting.
The meeting moved on to superintendent and staff reports and several informational and action items after completing the organizational items.
