Superintendent Lisa told the Kohler School Board on March 8 that the district will install new lights at the baseball and tennis courts on March 27 and will close Greenfield Drive from 8 a.m. to noon that morning for safety while a helicopter helps set the poles. She said Altmyer Electric will stage work at Evan Field and asked parents to carpool because parking availability will be limited during installation.
Lisa also said the district received digital mapping of the entire building from the Critical Response Group and that she will share the maps with local law enforcement, the Department of Justice and the Office of School Safety.
She congratulated students who advanced in DECA and Science Olympiad competitions, naming student competitors and listing placings from recent meets. The superintendent announced a student-council–sponsored blood drive on March 15 and outlined the district's testing schedule: juniors will take the ACT this Wednesday; freshmen and sophomores will take a pre-ACT the week of March 20; and grades 3–8 will begin state testing in April after spring break.
For early childhood programs, Lisa announced a new 4K preview night on March 20 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. to give parents a look at classrooms and enrollment steps. The district will hold child development screening and offer enrollment and registration on Wednesday, April 10, to meet child-find screening requirements.
Most items reported by the superintendent were informational and did not require board action at the March 8 meeting.
