The Dieringer School Board approved routine business items and received the April financial report at the meeting.
The consent agenda — which included minutes from the April 29 study session and regular meeting, personnel recommendations, payroll and vouchers — was approved by voice vote. The board accepted a PTA donation of $3,092 to Lake Tapps Elementary to support an upcoming seventh-grade field trip and accepted an $800 donation from the American Heart Association. The board also accepted additional PTA donations to provide emergency portable toilets and privacy tents for elementary schools.
On policy work, the board completed second readings of several policies, including policy 2410 (standards of excellence) and a set of other policies reviewed at prior meetings; those second readings were approved by voice vote. A separate group of policies were presented as first reads for future review.
District finance staff presented the April financial statements: at 67% through the fiscal year, revenues are tracking slightly above the midpoint while expenditures were reported at about 63.89%. Spring tax collections contributed approximately $2,500,000 to the general fund, roughly $3,000,000 to capital projects and about $248,000 to the debt-service fund for bond payments. The presenter said the district made a second payment of about $854,000 this fiscal year to the high schools that Dieringer students attend and that OSPI later updated its calculation; the presenter estimated an additional roughly $91,000 will be due at month’s end.
Board members had no substantive objection to accepting donations or approving the routine policy items; several thanked students and volunteers for a strong showcase earlier in the meeting.
