At its March meeting the Fayetteville City School Board approved several personnel and travel actions, confirmed a small trustee group for the sick bank, and heard a facilities update that a FEMA grant had moved to FEMA in Atlanta.
Superintendent Mister Jones asked the board to approve a sick-bank trustee group consisting of Lisa, Shontay and himself; the board moved, seconded and approved the request by voice vote. Jones then asked the board to approve tenure for Chad Barnett and Lucretia Mitchell; both tenure requests were moved, seconded and approved without recorded roll-call votes.
The board also approved an overnight trip for Fayetteville High School cheerleaders to attend national finals in Virginia Beach in April; transportation will include multiple personal vehicles and a school van, per the superintendent's description. The board separately authorized organizers to hold an informational/organizational meeting to gauge interest in a proposed student group trip to Greece so families can receive details.
On facilities and transportation, a committee representative reported progress on a long-pending FEMA grant: "I'm pleased to announce that our FEMA grant has moved from Tema back to, back to FEMA in Atlanta," the representative said, and committee members said they planned outreach to the utilities board and the local planning commission and would share mock-ups for an entrance to Ralph Baskins when available.
The board moved through these routine approvals by voice vote and closed the evening by thanking Fayetteville Middle School for hosting and student presenters.
