Mr. Bud, introduced by Superintendent S6 as a last-minute presenter, told the Coventry Local School Board on April 18 that the high school has ‘‘a fantastic crowd’’ of achievements to report and invited student athletes and honorees forward.
He led the board in recognizing the boys bowling team, coached by Aaron Rose, as state runner-up and recounted the team’s run through conference, sectional and district play before reaching the state finals. Coach Aaron Rose praised the players for overcoming venue challenges and for their leadership, saying, "we didn't even have home lanes this year... these guys ended up winning the MAC championship."
The presentation also highlighted extracurricular successes across esports, bridge-building competitions, the music program (superior ratings at the Ohio Music Education Association district events and All-State selections), drama productions, and community outreach projects such as service work at the Haven of Rest and gift-bag drives. Mr. Bud named senior students and several staff contributors, congratulated new National Honor Society inductees and reviewed upcoming events including a job/career fair, prom and senior ceremonies leading up to graduation on May 21.
Board members responded with brief commendations for students, staff and community volunteers. The superintendent framed the presentation as part of the routine superintendent’s report and thanked staff and community partners for their support in student activities.
The spotlight concluded with board recognition and a prompt to proceed to business items on the agenda.
