Madison Local students qualify for national competitions; SkillsUSA carpentry champion headed to Atlanta

The board recognized multiple career‑technical students who qualified for national competition rounds. Mr. Grove listed qualifiers including Kendall Kirschner and Haley Vernon (BPA qualifiers heading to Chicago in May) and named Savannah Gray, Hannah Ball and Mikayla Harvey among others who also qualified for the trip.

Mr. Grove praised the students and instructors for their dedication and said the district will support students traveling to national competitions. He noted one student, Haley Vernon, is a two‑time national qualifier.

District advisors also highlighted a state champion: Josh Atwell, a SkillsUSA carpentry competitor who won the state event and earned a spot at nationals in Atlanta. SkillsUSA advisor Mrs. Von Stein told the board, "He won gold," and praised his precision and attention to detail during the competition.

Board members and administrators congratulated the students and their instructors. The recognition is celebratory and informational; no policy changes or funding requests tied to the recognitions were presented during the meeting.
