Superintendent Dr. Morris opened the board meeting with a series of student recognitions and updates on extracurricular programs. He announced that Isaac Wood won first place in the SkillsUSA district building construction competition and has qualified for the state competition in April. "Congratulations to Isaac," Dr. Morris said, noting the hands‑on technical requirements of the contest.
Dr. Morris also reported strong first‑year results for the revived FBLA program at Kutztown High School, which placed students in accounting, business law, management and social media strategy events at the Kutztown University regional competition. He highlighted individual placings including Owen McFarland (first in accounting) and Daniel Yerrick (first in business law), and praised the team’s performance against the reigning state champions.
The superintendent recognized athletics achievements, including Emily Boyer and Cassia Sherry winning individual titles at the BCIAA girls’ wrestling tournament. He also recounted the girls’ basketball team’s pink‑out for cancer awareness that featured longtime teacher and coach Jen Biglin. "Seeing her smiling and happy to be there is really incredible," Dr. Morris said.
On facilities and operations, Dr. Morris summarized recent committee discussion about the high‑school marquee, noting two repair/replacement options estimated at roughly $20,000–$22,000 and recommending further evaluation on whether to repair or replace to extend the marquee’s service life. He also described a proposed lease for a data line to Brandywine Heights School District to provide backup internet access, increase bandwidth and firewall protection and reduce security costs.
The superintendent closed by thanking board members during School Board Recognition Month and encouraging continued community support for district programs. The board moved on to committee reports and several action items following the presentation.
