Marcela Rodríguez Villagrán, host of the county Spanish‑language program En sintonía con el consejo, told listeners the Montgomery County Department of Permits Services is holding a forum for construction professionals on Tuesday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and that today is the last day to register.
The event is aimed at connecting engineers, architects, permit applicants and other professionals and will include networking, remarks from the county executive, a departmental annual presentation and a "data by the numbers" permitting report, program participants said.
Patsy Wornick, manager in the Department of Permits Services, described a recurring requirement attendees should note: "Es muy importante ese tema de cumplimiento con el código contra incendios" — businesses such as restaurants, offices and other public‑facing establishments must obtain and renew an annual fire‑code compliance permit, she said, and may apply online.
Wornick also told listeners that property managers and landlords should develop emergency plans that include evacuation maps, meeting points and contact lists; those plans are to be submitted to the department for review and must be available to tenants.
The program said Spanish interpretation will be available at the forum and that registrants can indicate language needs during signup. In case of inclement weather the director said the forum would be postponed to Monday, March 9. Listeners were directed to the Department of Permits Services web pages on the Montgomery County government site for registration and details.
The program aired additional operational guidance from the department and urged industry professionals to consult the county web resources for permit procedures and timelines.
