Curriculum pilots: district recommends several textbook adoptions, postpones academic biology purchase

Stan, the supervisor of curriculum and instruction, walked the committee through a series of textbook pilots across grade levels and disciplines. Pilot teachers recommended purchases for several subjects (honors/accelerated math sequences, certain chemistry texts and grade‑level science kits). For tenth‑grade academic biology, the pilot team decided not to continue the resource, citing pacing concerns and limited vocabulary preparation for Keystone Biology.

Stan said pilot teachers formed shared Google Drives and engaged in professional development workshops with publishers; several pilot materials included online resources and teacher supports. The curriculum office will return the next month with cost details and formal adoption materials for board consideration.

Board members thanked staff for the review process and noted that pilot feedback had both supported and ruled out potential adoptions.
