Committee issues favorable reports on several bills, including bail-jumping fix

The committee took several procedural actions on smaller items. It gave a favorable report to a child-protection bill after adoption of an amendment addressing AI-generated content (see separate article). The committee also gave favorable reports to S B 239 (a companion bill) and to H B 405, a bail-jumping bill brought by Representative Bracey that would allow sheriffs in Mobile County to pick up individuals who violate electronic-monitoring boundaries rather than waiting for court processes. Supporters said the change responds to public-safety concerns; the committee moved and approved favorable reports by voice vote.

Several other bills on the agenda were carried for additional work or referred to subcommittee, as noted in separate items.
