The City Commission approved lease terms with La Playa Beach Associates LLC for city-owned premises at 18590 Collins Avenue and later approved an add-on amendment that applies to a separate site referred to as "the spot."
At the second reading, City Manager Samuelsinger said the lease was negotiated with several changes: a 60-day termination right that would be exercisable after an initial 42-month term, an initial fixed monthly rent of $5,000 for 18 months and a subsequent increase to $10,000 per month. "We met with them, and we do have a change," Samuelsinger said, describing the revised termination and rent schedule.
The add-on resolution clarified that the same termination provision applies to both the spot and an adjacent empty lot and that the two items were voted on separately despite matching provisions. No public speakers addressed either lease item. Commissioners moved, seconded and adopted the lease ordinance on second reading and later approved the add-on amendment.
The lease approvals authorize city staff to finalize and implement the agreements consistent with the adopted terms.
