Scott, Lauderhill’s parks director (first name provided in the presentation only), told residents that parks receive the largest share of the proposed GO bond and described specific improvements planned in Saint George Broward Estates as part of phase 3. He said the scope at Saint George includes the Sam Warkison pool, a football field, upgraded Musco sports lighting with 0‑spill tolerance, additional parking, an electronic marquee and outdoor bleachers.
Scott said the pool will have safety and programming benefits, including reducing drowning risk for children under 4 and creating a pathway to swim-team, lifeguard and EMT careers. He framed the park investments as community-building and said they will be part of a citywide parks program that also upgrades turf, pavilions, restrooms and signage at other sites (West Kenlark, Lauderhill 612, Walt Park, and a planned Northeast park at 21st Street and 46th Avenue).
Kenny Hobbs, city manager, said Saint George is one of the top three projects staff have identified and that, if the parks question (Question 2, $34,000,000) passes, staff will hold design meetings with the community before seeking commission approval and beginning construction. Hobbs added the city previously completed earlier phases (playground canopy, basketball-court covering, gym interior) and that much of the design work has already been done, allowing the city to move quickly on pricing and contractor solicitation after a successful vote.
Residents at the meeting asked about project sequencing, additional parking and how community input will be incorporated; Hobbs and parks staff said the city will return to the community with final renderings before proceeding to the commission for approval.
