Mayor Bill McLeod and village trustees visited assisted-living centers and community organizations to distribute handmade Valentine cards assembled by schools, scouts and local businesses.
"We come here, we go to the hospital, we go to Discovery now, all done," McLeod said of the visits and thanked volunteers who helped assemble cards so residents without close family would feel included. The visits included stops at Discovery Village, SHARE and Gigi's Playhouse, with lighthearted moments such as a miniature horse appearance for residents.
Separately, the program highlighted local business openings. A representative for Stretch Zone said the new location at 4620 Hoffman Boulevard uses a patented table system and new techniques to help clients "move better, reduce discomfort, improve sleep, and increase energy." The broadcast also listed recent openings and remodels across the village, including restaurants and retail locations.
Ceremonial "keys to the village" were presented to some new businesses and community partners in recognition of their service.
