The IHL board approved the University of Mississippi’s request to initiate phase 4 of a multi‑phase energy savings performance contract with Trane for lighting upgrades at the Gertrude Ford Center for the Performing Arts.
Board presenters said the project will replace 245 specialty house lighting fixtures in the main performance hall and studio theater with LED fixtures to match design and lumen output. The proposed scope for phase 4 was $349,000. Staff presented guaranteed average annual energy cost savings of $17,081 and a 20‑year cumulative guaranteed energy cost savings of $341,630; guaranteed 20‑year operational cost savings were presented as $138,839, yielding a combined 20‑year guaranteed savings of $480,469. The Attorney General’s office reviewed the contract for compliance with Mississippi Code §31‑7‑14 and found it acceptable. Trustees voted to approve the item on the record.
Board discussion included encouragement for trustee participation in the capital improvements process and engagement with the Department of Finance and Administration during the annual request cycle.
