The Brighton Central School District recognized three employees with Brighton Believers awards at the board's May 7 meeting.
Henry Westbrooks, a security guard at French Road Elementary School, was nominated by parent Eileen Kaufman and others. The nominator praised Westbrooks for greeting students, remembering names and fostering a welcoming environment that contributes to safety. Westbrooks responded, "I love these kids," during the recognition.
Betsy Paddock, assistant principal at 12 Corners Middle School, was honored based on an anonymous nomination for sustained counseling leadership and consistent support through transitions and crises.
Kristen Cooper, a physical education and adapted physical education teacher at Council Rock Primary School, was recognized for creative, developmentally appropriate lessons, coaching and work supporting students with significant gross motor and intellectual needs; her nominator was identified as Barb Flender, a district physical therapist.
Board members highlighted these recognitions as examples of district values and community commitment.
