Iowa House reads multiple bills, refers several to committees

The Iowa House completed a series of first readings and referrals to committee, with the legislative clerk introducing bills and the chamber noting committee assignments.

The clerk announced Senate File 2263, filed by Scholten, described as "relating to carrying, transporting, and possession of a weapon and including effective date provisions"; that measure was sent to the Judiciary Committee. A House bill, House File 2399 (reported by the Judiciary Committee), was described as relating to pretrial bond amounts for certain felonies. Other bills read included Senate File 2412 (Workforce committee) on qualifications for state and local government employees and professional licensure; Senate File 2422 (Health & Human Services) addressing supplemental and social assistance programs, the medical assistance program, and the Iowa Health and Wellness Plan; Senate File 2426 (Transportation) on English proficiency requirements for commercial drivers; and Senate File 230 (Local Government) concerning the display of flags at half staff on public buildings. Several of these received a first reading and were referred to the committee indicated by the clerk.
