Town of Farmington nears completion of new municipal building; ribbon-cutting planned after exterior work

The Town of Farmington committee reported that the new municipal building is essentially finished, with interior punch-list items nearly complete and exterior work — including brick pavers and grading — awaiting suitable weather.

Speaker 2, who addressed contractor performance, said it "has been a very successful project from where we started and where we are," and thanked the general contractor and project team. Speaker 1 added, "Town of Farmington appreciates it." Staff said a commissioning agent is engaged and that the project is moving into closeout steps, with some credits expected to return to contingency as trade allowances are reconciled.

Officials discussed plans for a ribbon-cutting and open house, noting that bricks are on-site but exterior grading and topsoil remain weather-dependent. Speaker 3 recommended waiting to set a firm date until the March 24 meeting so members can pick a date that will show the completed exterior. Multiple members agreed that an event after exterior completion would present the site better for visitors.

The committee also invited members to a building tour following the meeting and discussed logistics for including a tour in the public open-house. No formal decision on the ribbon-cutting date was made; staff said they would return with a proposed date and publicity details at the next meeting.
