OCC Announces Project REACH Financial Inclusion Summit on May 29

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency announced that Project REACH will hold a Financial Inclusion Summit on May 29 at OCC headquarters in Washington, D.C., and that registration is available at occ.gov.

Project REACH, launched in 2020, is a convener initiative "for economic access and change to reduce barriers to financial inclusion," the unidentified speaker said. The program brings together banks, civil-rights groups, consumer advocates, technology firms and other stakeholders to identify obstacles and develop solutions.

The initiative focuses on several priorities, the speaker said: increasing access for people with limited or no credit histories (so-called "credit invisibles"), revitalizing minority depository institutions and supporting affordable housing. "Project REACH is unique," the speaker said, describing the OCCfs role as convener that provides "a space for innovation and collaboration."

The summit is open to the public and will showcase work by Project REACH participants and new initiatives intended to "have a meaningful impact and help millions of people," the announcement said. Registration information is posted at occ.gov. The speaker closed the announcement by saying, "I hope to see you there."
