Senate Rules Committee moves dozens of governors nominees en bloc to the floor

The Oregon Senate Rules Committee voted Monday to send a broad slate of the governors nominees to the Senate floor with a recommendation for confirmation.

Vice Chair Starr moved that the listed nominees be advanced en bloc, citing efficiency for routine appointments. The list included nominees to the Board of Accountancy, Health Evidence Review Commission, Oregon Medical Board, Port of Portland commission, the Board on Public Safety Standards and Training and dozens of other boards and commissions, as read into the record by committee staff.

Chair JAMA called the roll; several senators voiced their support before the committee recorded the motion as passing. Chair Jones said she would carry the en-bloc nominations to the floor.

The work-session motion packaged many agency and advisory appointments into a single recommendation and did not include extended debate on individual nominees. Committee members reserved the right to pull items for separate consideration on the Senate floor.

The committee adjourned the work session after completing the en-bloc action and the subsequent separate consideration of the state forester nomination.

Actions recorded at the meeting show the committee advanced the en-bloc package to the full Senate for final confirmation.
