Long‑time planning commissioner Brent Stacy resigns; commission re‑elects incumbent officers

Brent Stacy, a planning commission member with 18 years of service, told colleagues he will resign effective immediately to spend more time with family and attend to business obligations.

"I just wanted to take a minute to tell all of you that, I appreciate the years of service, each and every one of you," Stacy said during the meeting when announcing his resignation. Several commissioners publicly thanked Stacy for his long service and expertise on subdivision and development matters.

The commission then proceeded to the scheduled election of officers for 2026. Members nominated incumbent Jeff Sweeney to continue in office and moved to elect the same slate of officers as the previous year. The roll-call vote recorded affirmative responses from the present members; absent members were noted in the record. The motion to retain the current officers carried.

The chair noted the commission will work with the mayor and county leadership to fill the two upcoming vacancies created by Stacy's and another member's resignations.
