Muncie board approves $1.42 million in claims; grants handicap parking renewal

The Muncie Board of Public Works and Safety approved $1,417,622 in claims at its Feb. 25 meeting, a register that included routine utilities and health-care payments as well as two fund claims related to fireworks displays.

City controller Craig Wright, who was introduced to the podium, told the board the register included "one to, from, for Prairie Creek and one for the city of Muncie to the, Pyrotechnico fireworks" so that "we could have fireworks on the third at Prairie Creek and on the fourth in the city of Muncie." Following the presentation, Melissa McGregor moved to approve the claims and the board adopted the register by voice vote.

The board also took up a residential handicap parking renewal for 1707 South High Street. Craig Wright moved approval of the application; Melissa McGregor seconded, and the board approved the renewal after staff confirmed the paperwork was in order.

Earlier in the meeting the board moved to approve the Feb. 18 minutes. The minutes and the claims register were both adopted by voice votes.
