The Crest Hill City Council on May 6 approved a package of infrastructure and maintenance actions, including a major pay request for ongoing roadwork and several contractor agreements.
The council voted to forward Pay Request No. 16 from Visorant Construction Inc. to the Illinois EPA for approval and disbursement; the amount listed in the packet was $1,968,162.59. The council earlier approved Pay Request No. 20 from Williams Brothers Construction Inc. for $33,345.35, also to be sent to the IEPA for disbursement.
City Engineer Ron Wiedemann recommended awarding a contract to Superior Road Striping for pavement marking work on Gaylord Road and Cedarwood Drive in the amount of $26,767.50; the council approved the award by roll call. The council also approved several engineering services resolutions: the Cresthill Business Park alternative truck‑route preliminary engineering (Phase B), an agreement for Division Roadway rehabilitation design, and a 3‑lot subdivision agreement tied to a PIN noted in the packet (resolution numbers recorded in the minutes). The council authorized the mayor to execute MFT (Motor Fuel Tax) forms for the 2024/25 MFT program included in the adopted budget.
Wiedemann told the council that utility relocations (communications) were underway and that roadway contractors should begin work within one to two weeks; he said bids will determine the final scope of resurfacing this year. Council members did not defeat any of the motions; roll calls were recorded as "motion carried."
