The Crest Hill City Council on May 6 approved a special‑use permit and parking variance for Platinum Triple Play LLC, doing business as DeBats (DBATS Lockport), to convert a vacant 13,000‑square‑foot warehouse at 425 Keaton Farm Road into an indoor baseball and softball training academy.
Community Development Director Ron Metzner told the council the plan commission had made a unanimous recommendation on April 11 to approve the special use and associated variances. Owner Edith Murillo and several partners attended the meeting; Murillo introduced the project team and thanked staff and council members for their help. Metzner and Murillo said the project includes renovating the existing building, installing a new parking lot and improving access to facilitate safe traffic flow.
The mayor asked whether anyone wished to speak for or against the application; the record showed no one approached the podium. Following a motion and second, the council adopted the ordinance granting the special use and parking variation (recorded as Ordinance No. 1984). The mayor welcomed the business and said the facility should be an improvement for local youth and surrounding communities.
